Demelza Hospice

Yesterday, I took my children to the Demelza Hospice in Kent, where a reception was being held for its marathon runners.
I had a preconception that hospices were sad, quiet places but this was nothing of the sort - it was filled with light and life and spirit.
Demelza House is set high on farmland and is part of an old Kentish oasthouse; it has a brand-new hydrotherapy pool, music rooms, tame goats, a playground with equipment that everyone can use, and bedrooms that open out onto gardens.
It was a privilege to see where the money raised was going, and to meet the staff.
There were some 50 marathon runners this year who raised over £60,000. So, to everyone who sponsored me, thank you very much indeed x
